Aerosol and Particle Technology Laboratory

The Aerosol and Particle Technology Laboratory (APTL) was established in 1996 within CPERI/CERTH with the rationale that the solution of many environmental, health, energy, materials and process industry related issues relies on understanding and exploiting the science of fine particles and their suspensions in various media.

Recognizing the opportunities offered by this diverse, yet based on common grounds, set of applications, our objectives are to conduct basic and applied research as well as to develop new technological products in these niche areas, responding to well acknowledged market needs in the areas of clean transport, clean energy and in-situ process monitoring.

HAAR annual meeting hosted by APTL

APTL will host the annual meeting of the Hellenic Association for Aerosol Research (HAAR)

The annual HAAR workshop will be held in Zefyros Meeting Room at the Administration Building of CERTH facilities in Thessaloniki on 15 December 2017.

"Trojan Horse Prize" for APTL about health effects assessment of the diesel emissions

APTL's scientific work on the health effects assessment of the diesel emissions was awarded by the Swiss doctors for the Environmental Protection ("Ärztinnen und Ärzte für Umweltschutz") with the Trojan Horse Prize for the best contribution on investigation health effects of automotive emissions, during the 21st ETH-Conference on Combustion Generated Nanoparticles at Zurich on June 19-22, 2017.

The work was presented by Penelope Baltzopoulou and refers to the "Cross Evaluating the Effects of a Cerium-Based Diesel Fuel Additive on Exhaust Toxicity with in vitro Air-Liquid Interface Cell Exposure Systems of Different Flow Patterns" (Penelope K. Baltzopoulou, Lynn E. Secondo, Akrivi Asimakopoulou, Daniel Deloglou, Christos Softas, Spyros Petrakis, Leonidas Chasapidis, Eleni Papaioannou, Nastassja A. Lewinski and Athanasios G. Konstandopoulos).
